We have some of the typical annual flowers (Geranium, pansy) but have replaced most of our landscaping plants with natives. The most successful have been Blue Flax, Yarrow, and Coreopsis/Tickseed. Herbs such as thyme, rosemary and lavender have also been successful.
The planting areas near the house get relentless sun. There is one tree, a Stella cherry. We are in the process of removing lawn areas and converting to mulch with native shrubs and wildflowers. .
