We have a large 37.5 acre botanic garden at approximately 500 feet elevation in the foothills of Santa Barbara CA. This is prime area for native bees being so close to the chaparral. Our insectary habitats are 50'-100' long by 20' wide on average with one formal insectary of 9,000 sq. ft.. The formal insectary is %50 native plants and %50 non-native plants proven to attract native bees. We could do better with our plantings but resources are limited. Our insectary areas are assigned the task of attracting beneficial insects of all types especially predatory insects.
