I enjoy birds, bees, and butterflies in my yard and have developed my landscaping to reflect my interest in habitat for them. I try to add pollinator friendly plants each year to add to the diversity of plant life. I plant in groups of one kind in masses to encourage bees. Although I have a 16 acres to work with, I keep my own landscape limited to about an acre and leave the rest natural, including space by the lake. Native grasses/flowers help to keep the lake clean, develops deep roots to prevent soil errosian, and provide natural habitat for bees and butterflies. I plant milkweed and native plants in these areas only, if at all.
