The area includes my more established native gardens in my front and back yards. More area could be added as it develops. All native plants are from very local sources and the plant diversity is high (more than 50 species in my front garden with most of the species being scattered some in clumps, to mimic native prairie habitat in the region. I am developing perennial and annual food (organically produced) vegetable and fruit gardens that will be placed near the native gardens so the native gardens can provide beneficial insect services to the food gardens. Most of the soil is a tight clay, but some areas have sand/loam that was brought in to provide some soil diversity.
