Answer givenOur advice
Do you have native bunchgrasses?:
None.
Increase the amount of bunch grass in your yard. Many bees nest and overwinter at the base of these grasses.
Does your nest block have less than 20 holes?:
No
Create a nest block with fewer holes. This will reduce parasitism and make it more likely bees will use it.
What is the main type of vegetation in the area you are evaluating (park, garden, yard, farm...)?:
Mix of native and non-native plants
Increase the amount of native plants in your yard.
How much of the whole yard, park, farm or green space is garden space or wild/natural vegetation?:
A lot. More than 40%.
You are doing a great job managing for pollinators!
How many flowers in your garden bloom in spring?:
7-9
Add 2 or 3 more kinds of spring flowers.
How many different pollinator counts will your contribute this year?:
Five or more.
We'd love to see pollinator counts from any of the plants in your garden as many times as you can contribute. Thanks!

Score: 189 (out of a possible 210)

The yard is approximately 1 acre of cleared land with the remaining acreage being woodland, bisected by a small stream. Within the cleared area there is a garden bed for vegetables, an herb garden, and various habitat gardens. The habitat gardens host a variety of native and some non-native plants, shrubs, and trees. Willows, pines, spruces, and birch are the primary trees in the cleared area, along with young elderberry, hazelnut, and plum trees (have not reached maturity to fruit). While sections of the yard are mown, roughly two thirds is left fallow with numerous native wildflowers and some non-native flowers. Dandelions, hawkweed, henbit, and other low growing, flowering plants are left to flower in the mown areas. Mowing is done only once or twice a month, some sections are mown less often.
