The arboretum used to be about an acre of lawn. We stopped mowing and began adding native flowering plants by turning over sod. We also added to the managed area a new road embankment next to the existing site, and this road embankment is almost three-stories tall. We also routinely remove non-native invasive species. The process of removing fescue sod and replacing with native plants continues.
