
This is a home garden in the middle of town. The house takes up most of the corner lot, with lawn and Hebe shrubbery along the two sides facing the streets (West and South sides). Parking strip plantings are low-growing manzanita, crepe myrtle street trees, CA poppies and other weedy plants. A wood pile (walnut) and area of bare clayey soil occupies a space near the driveway (North end of lot). A garden area occupies the east side of the property between the house and an 8ft fence. Perennial plantings include: mexican sage, butterfly bush,Canna, Epilobium canum (CA fuschia), blue flax, lavender, Romneya coulteri, agapanthus, lilac (Syringa), various hybrid roses, jade plant. Annual/garden plants include morning glory, tomato, pumpkin, thunbergia, artichoke, cucumber. Soils range from flood-deposited clay to sandy loam (ammended over the years and/or or brought in as fill during renovations).
