Although I haven't been able to do Lemon Queen observations this season, I do have some random anecdotal info.
First, I noted that many honeybees would be around in the evening and seemed to be "lost". It would be almost dark when most of the bees had returned to the nest. They would wander aimlessly on the cement and then I would find them dead in the same spot the following morning.
Secondly, the Argiope spiders I watch in their beautiful webs each fall have been catching honeybees almost exclusively and they have been catching a lot. I have never seen this happen before. Plants they frequent are lemon cucumber and all of my citrus. One spider on the cucumber has gotten 7 bees in the last 3 days. It looks like a battlefield underneath the plant with wrapped dead bodies everywhere.
