You can upload a picture with any post to this forum. These may be jpeg, png or gif format.
The system automatically resizes the images, making them pretty small. So if you have a larger image, please crop it to show only the bee or flower. Otherwise it will be difficult to make out.
As usual if you have questions or comments, you can post here or contact an administrator.
are there any photos of bees on this web page?
This honeybee-sized pollinator has been affectionately nicknamed "The bee with fuzzy yellow leg warmers" but would love to know what its Linnean taxonomic name is :-)
Hi,
I took some photos of bees in the yard but I am having a hard time id'ing them. Can anyone help? I've posted the photos on picassa. Follow the link. The last photo is the one I am really curious about as I have many of these in the yard.
Thanks for your help!
Anna

If that doesn't work, I'll upload a photo too.
This lovely insect loves my flower bed as well as the sunflowers. It is not very large, flies rapidly, yet can hover, has long antennae, the thorax is an iridescent teal green and the abdomen has distinctive black and yellow stripes. It folds its wings back over when it is on a flower. It does not appear to have hair for fuzz, though it is such a small insect that it is hard to tell if there are fine hairs on the thorax. I have not been able to find an image of this one at the bee index located on this website.
Hello,
Took some new photos to share..... I hope the first one is a carpenter bee. It looks like the one from the bee guide. ??
I had to watch 4 different plants tonight because the carpenter bee was hogging the the one flower.
Hello again - I hope the first picture is a carpenter bee, it sure looks like the one on the bee guide.
Just wanted to share this, this is what greeted me Monday morning as i was about to leave the house. Had to go back and get my camera ans share. Enjoy :) Reenie
I tried to take its picture but it is too fast and keep on flying around. The sunflower haven't bloom yet so there is not much for it stay for long. On its two fat legs, it has some hairy yellow stuff. I am not sure if those are pollen or it's just its hair. Overall, its body is pretty yellow. Could it be a bumble bee?
