Sadly, this will be my last observation this year. All of the other sunflowers have quit blooming. They were stripped of their leaves by goldfinches and even the immature seeds were pecked out for food. The bee population in my yard seems very healthy. Honeybees visit all the flowering plants and are doing their best to raid my oriole feeders. I have resorted to a sponge floating in sugar water to distract them. I also observe many kinds of wasps and tiny bees and hover type flies. There do not seem to be as many bumblebees as in some years, but they are about. Thank you for conducting this project. I hope it results in large and healthy bee populations, both wild and domesticated. Feel free to contact me if I can be of further help. Ann Summers
