The sunflowers have just begun to bloom. The opening flowers seem to have lots of pollen. The goldfinches are eating the leaves - there are often 5 to 10 birds on the plants so I do not know how long the plants will bloom well. Bees are attracted to the sunflowers, but they seem to like the marjoram and fennel flowers best. Many small bees/flies/wasps are on the wild fennel. Anise swallowtail caterpillars are on the fennel.
