Longitude and Latitude

We find that about 20% of the addresses people enter can't be located using our latitude and longitude converter. So, if you have a GPS, we would love to have you give us the true latitude and longitude. We need to have the data entered in the decimal degrees format. For example, the latitude and longitude at SFSU would be 37.72084, -122.47661. If you have your lat and long in degrees, minutes and seconds, there are a lot of online converters you can use to change to decimal degrees.

Here is one we like:

For those of you who have some expertise, we use WGS84 which is what most GPS units are programmed to use

fertilizer

I garden organically. Under the "fertilizer/no fertilizer" entry in your garden description I believe there should be a choice between "chemical fertilizer/organic fertilizer." I believe the word "fertilize" implies the use of chemicals.

Fertilzer

I agree with xericforest 100% about the type of fertilizer. For the last few years we have been letting nature takes it's course with our gardening and only use organic fertilizer when we feel it's needed on certain crops. For the last two years our garden has done awesome and here it is almost the end of February and my freezer is still filled with squash, green beans, corn and tomatoes. We'll going to have to buy a larger freezer. We have just started here in GA preping the garden for spring planting and already planted some onions. So hoping for another great year.

fertilizer

I agree with the referance to fertilizer. I almost didn't put it in, because I want everything to be organic and didn't want to infer that I used chemical fertilizers. It would be better to list the choices as chemical fertilizer or organic.

Fertilizer does not mean chemical

The term fertlizer simply means natural or synthetic materials that are worked into the soil to increase its capacity to support plant growth. All natural kelp meal is just as much a fertilizer as miracle-gro, and any master or scientific gardener will tell you the same. Trying to tie the word fertilizer together with the word chemical is going to do more harm then good as it will scare people away from properly feeding their plants. If you feed your plants organically, then yes, you fertilize.

Lemon Queen sunflower seed

I wanted to let you know that the seed I got in the mail was just broken shells - the whole seed was not intact. I planted them anyway. I did not find any Lemon Queen at my nursery so could not buy additional ones. You said we could not sub another variety but I had no choice. Just wanted to let you know how that turned out. I planted Red Sun sunflowers instead.

Location

I don't know my latitude and longtitude but I know that Google has it wrong. A few months ago I could find my address on their site but not today. They now have me on Hwy 53 which is a couple of miles away. Mapquest provides the correct location but not the L & L.

site of Hampton University garden

I added in the box the information that our garden is actually in the circle shown just above the words "Hampton University" in the google map. The lat/long was calcualted by the site, and it is very close!

Wrong city

You have me in La Habra, CA, and I live on the west side of Whittier, CA. My street name is Spyglass Hill Road in Whittier. There's a Spyglass in La Habra, but that's not me. Can you fix that?

It looks like you fixed it yourself

Claire,

It is reading correctly for me now. It looks like you haven't done your garden description form yet so, I couldn't check that.

Let me know if I'm missing something.
