Choice of seeds

I live in Minnesota, the seeds I received did not do well. The plants were small, as were the flowers. (I had plenty of other sunflowers under my feeders.) No bees were interested in them, they were all happy swarming around my perennial oreganos about 20 feet away. After that they moved on to the Sedum Autumn Joy, also not far away. I'm happy to inform, I had tons of bees except for honey bees, those were few but considering that 2 years ago I saw none, I was happy to actually see some.

hungry hippo

I transplanted my sunflower plants into the rain garden that I had created . But the hungry hippo that has lived in this neighborhood for the last 12 years ate them all up--and they were past my knees! What is that hungry hippo.... a large fat groundhog with pups. But I planted more sunflowers seeds closer to the house and they all came up, in fact I still have some blooming now. Also a giant one in the regular garden. So beware of hungry hippos!
