Hope to get the "lemon Queen" sunflower seeds for this project 2009 even though its already March!!! If not, I'll try Home Deport for some seeds!! I'm eager to start planting!!! My nephew lives in Erie, PA that had a colony of bees last year. Hopefully, for all this year will be great!!!
I have a small area about 1/2 the size of a basketball court where I would like to start a colony. I have 1/4 acre of varying sun exposure to plant the seeds. Who do I contact please?
Thanks so much & I look forward to hearing from you,
Trudie

To start a colony of honey bees, I recommend contacting your local beekeeping society. Depending on what part of the country you are in, you can try the following site for your state and then from that site get to your most local society. I took a beekeeping class sponsored by my local society in Virginia and ordered bees from the class! Good luck.
Hello, I found this site last year but I was too late to grow anything and participate. This year I purchased my own seeds. I bought the Girasol Sunflower seeds. It is a mammoth variety of Sunflower. Will I be able to use this to participate in the study? If not, what type of Sunflower do you recommend? I live in Delaware. Thank you for any suggestions! Annmarie
We'd prefer to have you use Lemon Queen. Different sunflowers have different amounts of pollen and nectar so, we need everyone to have the same species. If you also want to use the Girasol and report on that species, we'd be able to use the lemon queen as an index for all the Girasol sunflowers.
I had signed up last year and did not receive any seeds. Looking forward to them this year as we plant three new gardens district wide!
Our objective is to reconnect the students to nature.
We love the site and are participating in Journey North's migratory observations and Tulip Garden research too!
We had over 1000 of our letters mailed back because of small imperfections in addresses. This year, we are going to ask you to put down an addressee and to double check your address. I'll send an email around to do this later in the winter.
I must apologize, you had sent me an email about a week ago
and I mistakenly put it in my spam because I didn't recognize the email address. Would you please tell me what the email contained or email me once again with the information . Thank you and I'm so sorry for the mistake.
Receiving Seeds
How long does it take to receive the seeds?
