new comer

Hi everyone ,my wife and i are avid gardeners we do enjoy working and observing insects and a variety of birds in the garden .We do enjoy growing a varitey of sunflowers.Seems we never get to harvest our seeds by the time the finches are finshed with them, and or the bore worms.btu we are looking forward to contributing to the count in any way we can.

I'm in Bremen, GA, which is about 50 miles due west of Atlanta, just before you get to the Alabama line. We had a bit of a cold snap last week, and I had to cover my English peas, but this week is supposed to be pretty moderate (for us), with highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's, so they should be fine.

Still seeing a bee or two here and there, but not a lot of flowering plants out there now (except my peas, which don't need bees to pollinate them).

Looking forward to getting my sunflower seeds next year and bee watching! Love the BEES!!!!

My location

Hi everyone...guess you'll read this in the spring lol. I'm from southern NJ and was hoping for an extended indian summer like the past few years...alas mother nature is a fickle one, deciding that fall would start early. Some early frost decimated the non-cold hardy plants but many are still green and attracting bees during the day. Good luck everyone in the pursuit of germinated sunflowers that attract scads of BEES!!! Looking forward to tips/advice and stories to compare.

Stay Warm until spring arrives!!!

i live in NYC , my family just bought our first house and we are planning to plant lots of stuff in our garden. Does anyone have any sunflower seed that wont mind sending it to me?

Hello New Yorker

Hello there.
Perhaps it is a bit late in the season to plant now but if you are still in need of some seeds I could send you a bunch for next year. Something neat about my sunflowers is that sometimes they turn into mutant sunflowers and I get many blooms and as a result many seeds. LOl,

Location & general Info

I live in central Florida close to Daytona Beach and Orlando areas.
I have a vergetable garden and have had a load of bees for the first time since living here. I guess they are after all the blooms in the garden and right now it is very dry here so they come and lay in the water on the patio when I water the garden which I had never seen before. Very interesting. I don't bother them and they don't bother me. We live in harmony so far!
