What is the life cyle of a sunflower? I planted some on my deck in a pot and they did very well. Once they bloom is the plant done? WIll it bloom again or do I need to plant new seeds?
Hi Mack---I'm learning this all for the first time too. I learned too late that snipping off a dead flower will allow new ones to grow. All of my plants were great, but I didn't cut those heads off in time. I have since started new ones that are now a few inches tall, and I've got more seeds started. I'm in California so my growing season will take me through November. Mine are in a barrel ---since I saw nothing on the plant that looked like it would be a bloom---I pulled them all out and am starting over. Hope this helps you. Remember---they like and need a lot of water. Maybe someone else can shed some more light for you.
