SUNFLOWER GROWTH

I planted my sunflower seeds in June, they came up fine but are now about 8 feet tall and have yet to bloom. I may need a ladder to watch for bees.
I have seen more honey bees in the rest of my garden than I have in years; lots of Bumble bees too.
I am hoping my Sunflowers bloom soon, last year the seeds didn't grow at all.
Lemon Queens
I do not have flowers on my lemon Queens as of this posting. I do have other sunflowers however that are now over 12' and have flowers that are anywere from 10" to 14" across. I hope we don't get any more strong winds. I did lose three plants becouse of a wind and rain storm.
By the way I have a 10' ladder at my plants so I can check on them and the bees. Lately I have not seen many honey bees but a lot of carpender bees and wood bores.
tall plants, no flowers
I planted end of June and mine too continue to grow and grow with not a flower in sight. However I do see bee's regularly- the ones at the flowering basil are huge , black and almost hum. The other ones love the wood bench next to the Sunflowers. I am assuming those are the Carpenter bees, but are the black ones Bumble bees?
My Sunflowers finally bloomed!
As of Aug 19, I had 1 plant in bloom, today 8/22, I have 4 plants blooming; the original with 2 flowers. We had to get the ladder out to check the number of flowers in bloom. This is exciting, I can finally participate.
