seeds didn't germinate

I planted the project seeds that were mailed to me several weeks ago. I also purchased some sunflower seeds of the same variety and planted them in the same location but at the other end of the row. The purchased seeds all germinated and look healthy. I have yet to have anything at all come up in the row of the mailed project seeds. Anybody else experiencing lack of germination?

Pre-Soak Your Seeds!

I've had fantastic success this year by pre-soaking my sunflower seeds 2-3 days before I plant them.
Out of thirty seeds, I've had all but one or two sprout. This has never happened before!

Slow seed germination

Take heart - they will germinate - not all of them - but a few will. From the first batch - I got 4 plants which only now have 4 sets of leaves - planted May 11th! The newer batches - planted just about 2 weeks ago - have just emerged - again - only 4 or so to a package. And - they are the tiniest things...not at all what we're used to seeing. I am following the package/flyer directions meticulously - and keeping them watered until they germinate. Meanwhile - the garden around them is flourishing - and I planted other plants bees like - lavender, cosmos, marigolds, coreopsis along with my tomatoes, and other veggies. I'm hoping this recent spike in temperature will jump start the second batch of seeds I have planted. I have been watching the other bees in the garden. Earlier - I had quite a bit of bumble and carpenter bees - who rambled amid the carolina jasmine and the honesuckle - chasing any intruder out of their territory - it was fun to watch. They were certainly outnumbering the honey bees in my garden at that time. Our California Locust tree - also blooming last month - was a hub of activity with all kind of bees - their buzzing was impressive. Things have quieted down a bit - and - I am waiting for the next flurry of activity - when I finally see what these sunflowers looks like. That will be when "the grand daddy" of them all - is in bloom!

seeds didn't germinate

We planted the sent seeds in two different places with different soil types. I watered daily for 3 weeks ... NOTHING came up. This past weekend I sifted through the dirt to see what was left, couldn't even find the seed shells; I think they just rotted away. I don't think I watered too much, I grow stuff from seed every year in our garden. I think you should get your money back from the bums who told you 80% germination rate, looks more like 0.8%

Some germination

We planted the day after the seeds arrived, May 28. Today is 6/17, BTW. Put them in two egg cartons with potting soil, indoors. As of now we have two germinated seeds, and maybe one more as of today. Looks like bunk seeds.......
I don't know how it happened, exactly, but it's a shame - it seems like a good project and also seems like a lot of people interested in helping out. We'll continue with what we have, but it seems from the comments here that we are not alone in only having two plants so far. Better luck next year, I guess.....

no germination at all

We were in a dry spell so I planted all the seeds in 2 flats with sterile soil mixture, kept them moist and nothing has come up at all, planted 1/2 on the 28th of May and and the rest June 1, today is June 17th. Guess I am out of luck for this year.

poor germination

We've only had one seed germinate out of 40 seeds. It took one week to germinate. The retail "giant" sunflowers that we started in March are doing well.
