Planted some of the sunflowers (I had the packet from y'all and 2 from Diane's Seeds, all annual Lemon Queen) 4/21 when I planted my early corn, and today we have 8 seedlings! I planted 2 more rows 4/23 and 24 with my two bush bean plots, and then today I planted the last row with my mid season corn. Tomorrow I plant my late season corn, on the other side of my last row of sunflowers.
I'm looking for the other sunflowers to germinate in about a week as well.
There are already male carpenter bees buzzing around, and I think I saw a honeybee today when I was taking a break from planting corn. Also various wasps and things.
Seedlings
Got the seed packet a week ago. thanks! A few seeds were crushed but the others have germinated in the small pots they were planted in. We are in the midst of a drought here in central Florida so I decided using pots vs in ground for now...will transplant eventually. Rainy season awaits us June 1..... bring on the bees...
bee traps
My neighbor has just hung several wasp traps around his property. Should I go out and take them down? Do (honey, carpenter, etc) bees know not to enter a wasp trap? Enlighten me please!
