garage bees

My name is Megan, and I recently joined the "Project". My mom lives approximately 5-6 blocks from me, and just noticed bees going into the wall of her garage. Is there someone who could come out and identify them, let her know if she has a honey supply, (lol) or should they be moved? We live in Genoa, Il. She likes the polinators, (she has flowers and veggies) and has been watching for signs to know if we are missing bees, but we seem to "bee" good. Thanks.

Honey bees tend to be

Honey bees tend to be slightly furry and range in color from yellow, orange, and black.

A small hive would have a constant flow of bees in and out from around 9am to sundown. At least 1 bee per minute, at most an almost countless stream of them. For Honey Bees contact your county office, they should have a list of people who do cut outs and swarm removal. Mention that a Cut Out is what you need.

Wasps tend to be more slender, less furry, and have more apparent stripes. These are pictures of common paper wasps which resemble Yellow Jackets. They can produce very large and very aggressive hives. Most other don't make as large a community but do tend to nest next to one another. So you can have multiple little hives in a place, but they're usually nothing compared to the population 1 yellow jacket hive can produce.

Hornets are a third option. There are a few types but they all tend to be similar to wasps. They are much fatter though.

In the case of Wasps and Hornets you might just be able to have them sprayed and close up where they're getting in at.

You can always call your local pest control agency and have them come out and take a look.
