Carpenter Bees

I just got my seeds the other night! Woo Hoo! Put one in the ground tonite and started 2 more in a small pot. I'll start more in a few days. These I will take down to the community garden when they are big enough. I already have 3 Lemon Queens going from seeds I bought in April. So the timing of the new seeds is perfect.

I had what I think are carpenter bees in my garden tonite visiting my milkweed - 3 on the butterfly weed and 1 on the swamp weed. They are so beautiful - they look as if they have on fluffy yellow coats with black "leather" patches in the middle of the back. They have papery black/purple/brown wings and their abdomens are black striped. Am I correct in thinking they are carpenters? Also saw one honey bee at the swamp weed. How very cool. I have no butterflies yet, but the bees are finding me! =)
