Bees in the pool

My sunflowers have not opened yet but I have been noticing about 10 dead Honey Bees in my pool each day. I never paid attention before so I don't know if this has been going on or is a new thing.

bees in your pool

I swim almost every day in a pool where I live. The first thing I do is look for bees. The honey bees need water. They are trying to get to the water and can't quite figure out how. Wasps land on top--take a drink---and fly off. honey bees can't. While I swim I watch for them. They fly overhead--fly around and around--then plop! I swim over to them and fish them out. I put them on the ground and they start drying off. As soon as they are dry they fly off. If you don't catch them soon after they go in--they drown. Try to provide something shallow so they can sip it from the side. CJ

Bees in the Pool

I wonder if you have a hive nearby and these are just bees who didn't quite make it back. Honeybee workers really only live for 2-3 weeks. If you think about a hive with 1000+ bees, having 10 per week in your pool is probably about right.
