Bees In NV (Las Vegas, Henderson)

I read about this organization in Sunset Magazine & am happy to join the project. Hopefully, we can attract a large number of bees here in Southern NV.

I live in Henderson but am a recent transplant from Long Island, NY. Out there, I had a very large spirea bush (I nicknamed it - "the blob"), echynasia, lavendar, shrub roses & dianthus. The spirea was a HUGE attraction to the bees, so much so, a friend of mine would not walk up my front porch. (I'd just tell her they were much more interested in the pollen than us). I left in 2007, and those bees were still there & thriving.

In general, I'm having a problem adjusting to growing most anything except for rosemary & lavendar. And I've seen few bees here (unless I was mistaken & they were really wasps). I miss the buzzing!

I was wondering if anyone else on this forum lives in Southern NV and what their experiences are with attracting bees here.
