IMG_3154Closeup.jpgMy flowers did not sprout, but I thought I'd post what visits the mint near where I planted my seeds. Can anyone tell me if the yellow guy is really a honeybee? I don't know who his friend is, but he's pretty impressive (read: scary) looking to me.
Honey bee!
Wow, what beautiful shots of a honey bee. Your other friend looks like a wasp.

Found the wasp
It's a digger wasp. Found it on whatsthatbug.com. Great site, but I really don't like bugs :-)
Hooray!
I'm so glad it's a honeybee! I thought maybe it was some look-alike imposter. Thanks, Gretchen!

I think this should work, in case anyone out there in bee land is interested :-)
Scoliid Wasp

The colorful one is a Scoliid Wasp. They are predators of grubs that would be eating the roots to grass and other plants. They do burrow holes but this is done to hunt for grubs. Very beneficial to have, though they won't likely be fixing any grub problems.

Sorry, the pix showed up while writing, but did not show when posting...not sure what went wrong.
