How am I supposed to fill out the form if my plant is already covered in bee's when I go out to sit and watch? The form demands a time frame of when the first one shows up. Im never their early enough to watch the first many bee's to arrive.
Its interesting to me how many of my friends are not interested in hearing about this- I was excited about being involved, sent snaps when I got my seeds and even have taken some phone quikpics when the first 3 seeds sprouted. Its not that they are coming right out and saying you are boring or we aren't listening they just get a glazed look in their eye or they suddenly have to get off the phone- some have even stopped calling altogether. I am still very pleased about the whole thing and because I waited quite a bit to get those seeds, planned carefully where they were to go and am already seeing bee's i think i just need some new friends...
I've experienced the same reaction from my friends and co-workers. However, it hasn't dampened my spirits at all. I'm having a great time with this project and I will continue to tell everyone about it because sooner or later I am going to run into someone that will want to participate. The glazed look in their eyes is just proof to me that too many have lost sight of the importance of nature and our dependence on it. I honestly believe people think all food comes from the grocery store.
hi, I am registered for my own garden area for the count this summer
but I wanted to register a second site: our zoo volunteers are setting up a count site at the Cherry Brook Zoo in saint John New Brunswick canada.
I cannot figure out on your web page how to do this. I only see my account page
please email me with your answer

I just learned about this tonight and so want to take part. I see that it looks like seeds were sent out last week though...am I too late? If I'm too late for the free seeds can I plant my own and fill out data on the bees? Or would this be too much of a variable added into your study?

I planted my seeds but my neighbor unknowingly planted her dahlias on top of them! Can you please send me more seeds (I have another spot to plant them)

I received e-mail today from a Theresa Bui (resa323@hotmail.com) requesting info on my account about obvervations and samples sent in.
Can you tell me if this person is part of the project.
If so way are you asking for this info.
I would like to request the seeds for my Toronto area home here, but I don't see an area to do so. Would you be able to email me or instruct me on how to order them?
Carolyn Harrison
Your website is not very clear on how to request seeds. Perhaps you could change that if you want more participation. I see I was not the only one confused.
Yes, I would like you to send me seeds.
Thanks
I enjoyed finding out about some of the students who've helped with this project. I am referring a lot of people and my contact has been Gretchen. I'm sure that the student population changes and I know my work situation has changed recently; I'm wondering if Fern and Shannon are still with the Great Sunflower Project.
Are you in need of any volunteers to help out with any aspects of the project besides the bee counting itself?
Colleen
If you don't ask, the answer's always no. (the truth behind 'there are no stupid questions')
Hi,
I have a question, my sunflowers didn't come up yet but I do have some milk-weed and the bees seem to like this so i was wondering if instead of using the sunflowers if iI could use the milk-weed?
Thanks Alot,

Bees are so neat
Hopefully, they'll have the opportunity to take a good look at some bees and realize how fascinating they are.
