Buying seed.
There are a number of places you can get the same variety of Lemon Queen Sunflowers (annual) that we are using in 2010. Be sure to buy the annual. There is also a perennial called Lemon Queen.
I can attest to the quality of Renee's seeds. She is amazing and has been a big help to us.
Renee's Garden. This is where we buy seeds. She does have a 3 pack minimum - though all 3 packs can be different plants.
Others are:
Gurney's Seed.
Diane's Flower Seeds.
I've had a report that they could be found for 20 cents at WalMart - in mansfield,ohio and for 99 cents on ebay.

I notice some of the varieties of Sun Flowers are pollen free, are these the best choice for the Honey Bee project ?

Sorry but my seedlings were eaten, maybe by earwigs? I do have a lot of bees in my garden in Oakland, especially on my grevillea plant, but I know that's not helpful to your study so I shall wait until next year. I'm not good at growing plants from seed but will try again.
